That medal made it all worth it

That medal made it all worth it

This race was all about sacrifices. Sacrifices that I made and sacrifices that hundreds of others made to help me get here. Sacrifices that my family,  co-workers, friends and teammates made to give to the starting line in Hawaii for Ironman World Championship. Then it all got capped off by an emotional voicemail from my mom. Wow ……. I am blessed to have all these great people in my life. You all have made me a better person.

This race wasn’t about beating anybody, it was about the accomplishment of getting here and just getting to the finish line. These are the best athletes in the World, you don’t come here to win your division. Everything about the course is ugly, it is hot, humid, windy and you are in a black rock desert. But, this is what makes it that much more special. The more of a challenge it is, the more people want to do it. Ali drive looks magical and pretty, but thats just a quarter mile of the course.

I will write my race report during my plane ride in a few days. I need to a easy bike ride and then I want to have some fun and eat some human food. Just had my first coffee and donut since the day after Placid ………… Mmmmmm it was freakin good.

Thanks for blowing up my phone. I feel loved …………. Good Stuff
